Andrew Visits Local Schools

Andrew recently visited three local schools in West Aberdeenshire and Kincardine.  He took the opportunity to speak with children from Laurencekirk Primary School, Banchory Devernick School and Hill of Banchory School.

British Defence Plans, Discussed with Gavin Williamson

Andrew met with Secretary of State for Defence, Gavin Williamson MP to discuss the current and future plans for British Defence.  The meeting held with no less than 8 Scottish Conservatives in addition to members of Armed Forces in Scotland, focused on some key issues relating to the armed forces

TAQA visit

Andrew met with Donald Taylor, the Managing Director of TAQA, who employ 100's of people and are a major contributor to the economy in West Aberdeenshire. Plans for the Oil and Gas industry post-Brexit were discussed and also about the commitments from the UK Government to the industry.

Stonehaven & District Men's Shed

Andrew met with representatives of the Stonehaven & District Men's Shed and discussed many issues currently faced by locals in the constituency and also across the UK.

Carillion Enquiry - Interim CEO

Andrew as a member of the Work and Pensions Committee is part of the Carillion Enquiry, and questioned witnesses including Interim CEO Keith Cochrane and former chair Philip Green.

Speech: International Disaster Relief

Andrew had the honour to bring a debate to Westminster Hall this afternoon on International Disaster Relief.

He said " As a country we have never shirked our responsibilities and I am proud of the work DFID and the armed forces do across the world for those less fortunate."

Question: Universal Credit Scotland

Andrew asked the DWP if the Scottish Governments decision to offer two weekly payments of Universal Credit will leave claimants in Scotland worse off than in the rest of the UK.
